Most of the real, enterprise use cases for blockchain and similar technologies come down to one thing:

Can I prove that this exact piece of data – document, transaction, code, image, … – existed at a certain point in time and has not been modified since?.

To be useful in the real world, this needs to be at scale, and at low cost. Most of the high-profile blockchains don’t seem to be focussed on solving this problem, so we set out to do so!
